Dear Family and Friends, The summer has flown by and it is hard to believe that the Christmas season is upon us! As the world gets caught up in the frenzy of “The Holidays”, may we take time to remember the Christ child who came to earth to die on the cross for our sins…He is the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) –He is Jesus and He deserves all the Glory!
We just want to wrap up the year by sending our love and thanks to each of you and also by giving a brief update regarding our family and the ministry Walk the Narrow Road.
We will start by sharing that the ministry has now received its non-profit status. It has been a
matter of much prayer and we are very thankful. More details given at the end of the letter.
Also, the purchase of the additional land that we visualize as the main setting for the trade school has been finalized. It is a “raw” piece of land that will need to be cleared and fit with basic necessities before anything is built. It will be a process and we will trust God for His timing and provision of it all. Until it is up and running, we continue to build on our original piece of land. God has recently blessed us with three additional small houses–each one with a connected bathroom; we anticipate that these will be used for housing students, helpers and travelers.
When people come, there is always the need for food. Food nourishes and strengthens our bodies, but the preparation and eating of food is also a time of fellowship and community sharing–a time to work together, share stories and speak into each other’s lives. And so we are building a small kitchen/eating area. Along with friends, we were able to pour the footings last Saturday and we look forward to having a larger area for serving meals soon.
Another project is the building of a shop where classes can be conducted. This is a big project that has started with the building of a retaining wall. As we mentioned in the summer letter, everything is a slow process when starting from scratch. The retaining wall needed to be built with larger than normal blocks and they were not easy to find–it took Danny two months of many phone calls and multiple dead-end leads before they were found. We also needed cement for the footings of the wall–two days before the planned pour, the cement trucks decided not to drive over the big hill! Even though this was a disappointment at the time, we ended up having 43 people come later and help mix and pour the 33 yards of cement–what a blessing and encouragement!
So even as we realize that life is hard, things are challenging, processes are slow and there are many things that we don’t understand…if we wake up each morning and lift our eyes to the hills, the Lord helps us through each day, each challenge, each difficulty. (Psalm 121)
A huge thanks to those of you who have supported us in many ways this past year/season. You know who you are, you have been a great blessing, and we appreciate you more than words can say!!
